How does it work?  A smart panel integrates all of your systems into a single control system. At it’s simplest, it can turn everything on and off from one place, but the sophisticated Lutron system can do so much more.

What systems can be integrated into the smart panel?  Almost all of your electrical systems can be integrated into your smart panel, including audiovisual, interior and exterior lighting, thermostat, motorized window coverings, appliances, security, and even your gas fireplace.

What can be controlled?
The possibilities for customization are endless. Every system can be preprogrammed and integrated to create “scenes,†activated by a single button so that all of the systems adjust together for a particular activity or time of day. In the living room, you can preset a button for “evening,†and lights and shades will adjust accordingly and the fireplace will ignite, creating the perfect ambiance for relaxing before dinner. In your bedroom, you can awaken slowly by using the button you’ve set for “morning,†that raises your blinds just a bit, turns on your TV to the morning news, and sets the heater at a warmer temperature before you get out of bed. At night, you can choose “reading†and the lights will change to your preset level.  Before you go to sleep, you can choose “all off,†that will turn off the TV, lights, fireplace – whatever you’ve programed.

How is it energy efficient?  By controlling the temperature and lighting in your home by need and time and closing shades when the sun is the brightest you can create a more energy efficient home. You won’t need to run the air conditioner when you are not there.  You can program all of these systems to turn on at a specified time each day or even turn them on remotely when you are on your way home.  You can also program lights to be sensor controlled to automatically go on and off as you come and go.    Another option will turn off standby power to appliances when not in use. Ultimately, the “energy†button will integrate all of your energy choices (dim lights, adjust heating/cooling, lower shades, etc.) with one touch. Fifteen different keypad configurations allow for ample choices for customization.
